Hello loves!

This week I have been, what some may say, a busy bee! Updating my family and friends is why I created this blog mostly, so pointless rant is going to be happening in just a few seconds then we'll get to some good stuff!

The Wednesday before Thanksgiving, I asked my loving husband for probably the 600th time what we were doing on Thanksgiving since our plans changed before and there was NO WAY I was going to let us go without our house or someone's house smelling like turkey on Thanksgiving. Seriously loved waking up every year to my house smelling so wonderful every Thanksgiving morning when I was little -- and until last year :P. So he finally told me we had no plans, and he was so gracious to go to the store so I could rest because I wasn't feeling well. I was pretty stressed, since I had never made a Thanksgiving meal before...ever. Just made pie for the family and that's it! I had a lot to live up to. I found a turkey recipe that seemed good and a couple of other awesome recipes my in-laws made in a cookbook they gave me! Found out on Thursday -- yes Thanksgiving day -- I got the wrong kind of turkey for the recipe I found, SO I was out of luck. I spent about an hour looking up different things on what to do, but I finally just ended up cooking it in my amazing, wonderful, magical crockpot since we had a small turkey. It turned out so so much better than I expected! I completely guessed on the ingredients to add, so I just added some white wine, butter, turkey gravy powder, olive oil, a dash of nutmeg, lemon and pepper seasoning, salt and LOTS of rosemary. Then I added some carrots and celery! Don't ask me how much of everything, because I have no idea haha.

I'm pretty proud of it!

After that I made crunchy top potatoes and sweet potato casserole with rolls, pumpkin pie and salsa to munch on during the day! (Salsa is a big thanks to Pioneer Woman's blog!)

Our little Thanksgiving set up :)
                                                         Housewife level 65 achieved!

The weekend after Thanksgiving was full of shopping and just relaxing. I absolutely love four day weekends with the husband! We got our Christmas tree...and by "got," I mean we actually physically cut it down. Turns out we're allergic to it when we touch it :(

What in the world am I doing? Also my husband is a tree snob.

We got some more Christmas decorations because we're both a little obsessed with decorating our house! So fun!

At least our three legged kitty loved the tree. Its his new favorite place to lay now :)

                                                            Ignore the bottom part...

Old and new decorations make it look Christmasy!! Yes our fur-babies have their own stockings. What of it?

We just had to add some extra stuff

This past Monday turns out was my birthday AND N's promotion to Captain! I am so utterly proud of him.
I had the privilege to pin my wonderful husband

                                                                  Restating the oath

                                                                     So so proud!

As for my birthday N had been asking me what I wanted to do and I decided to see the new Disney movie, "Frozen"! Yes, I was turning 26 and I was seeing a kids movie. Don't judge! Let me tell you that it was adorable and it had N and I cracking up a lot! I highly suggest it, also we went early enough that we had the ENTIRE theater to ourselves!! 3-D wasn't that bad either! Here are our sexy selves in our glasses! Minus I just noticed N has his sunglasses on instead...wonderful.

Tonight there was a "CG Reception." I'm learning all the army stuff so bear with me while I learn this whole new world. Anyways, at the reception I met N's Commanding General and a couple of other big names and I was NERVOUS! I even went shopping to find a new outfit, which by the way is SO CUTE! If I could wear it all the time and not look weird, I would. I even curled my hair for the event, which is not something I usually do because 1)It usually doesn't look good and 2) I can't fix hair for the life of me. It actually looked decent for the first hour! Then we walked into the building...and decided to do what it wanted. Awesome. Then, the whole time before and during meeting the people, I was shaking and was hoping I wasn't going to get sick on them. The CG was so amazingly nice so I really had nothing to worry about...of course. I tend to make up the worst scenarios in my head for no apparent reason and then stress about it for who knows how long.

HOW CUTE IS THAT OUTFIT?! I love love love Target. Also I don't look 16 so that's a huge bonus

Sorry about the picture quality by the way! My nice camera broke awhile back, then N's camera broke on our honeymoon because I had an awesome idea to ask someone to take a picture of us while we were in the ocean and the screen must have gotten wet. We only have our phone cameras right now, I eventually plan to get a super duper nice camera. I have been wanting to learn photography the past few years, which most people don't know! Lets cross our fingers to see if that pans out, plus it gives me an excuse for a new camera!

In a few weeks we will be heading to the great state of Texas again for Christmas! 16ish hours in a car with a puppy who doesn't listen yet, and a cat who is so scared of the car he foams at the mouth as well as other unmentionables. That'll be fun. I CAN'T WAIT to be around people I know again though! I'm lame and have made no friends yet besides the couple N knows who are both in the army as well :). Their baby is adorable by the way. Had to put that out there...cuteness overload when I see her. Hopefully soon I will be able to meet some people when I venture out to more social events! Until then, I'm doing crafts, cleaning, napping with Easel, cleaning, trying to train Barley, looking up and trying new recipes and more cleaning.

I'll try and update again before we leave for Texas, but don't hold y'alls breath :P

Until next time!

Okay, so I'm going to try out blogging to keep family and friends updated on our life as well as calm down on my Facebook posting. (Not really, but I'd like to think I'm not obsessed with that site)

Beware: I'm terrible at grammar and I haven't really written anything since I was in college, so bear with me while I relearn how to properly write again :D

For the first post, I might as well explain how N (my wonderful husband) and I met since most people don't really know and I may or may not be a LITTLE embarrassed how it happened.

N and I met online. Yep....yikes! I was working two jobs at the time, and I worked...A LOT. To the point of damaging my body because I didn't know how to say "No, I need to cut hours." Anyways, during this time, I hadn't dated anyone in awhile. My past relationships really turned me off to dating guys and even though I was young I really wanted a family and to settle down which is kinda weird for people around the age of 23 in this day and age. I guess I have an old heart? I like tradition. Sue me. While I was working at one of my amazing jobs, a girl talked me into getting a dating profile on a free website called POF -- look up the actual name. Its funny and stupid. While she made one, she looked at me and said "M, you need a life besides work. Even just having a guy say that you're pretty will really help with your confidence and it's not going to hurt anything if you just talk to someone. You really need to get out instead of working constantly." Obviously, I had/have an issue with confidence, especially with dating at the time. That was kind of a slap in the face for me to really get out of my comfort zone and people were obviously realizing how pathetic my life was, and it's not like I would really meet anyone right? Who does that? Meet someone online?? Psh no one ever.

I finally agreed and whenever we worked together we would talk about who messaged us, and trust me when I say...there are a lot of weird people online. Probably should include myself in that. I didn't really talk to many people because no one really caught my attention. After a week or two, I decided to get rid of my account because obviously nothing was going to happen. Something told me to wait, so I decided to wait one more night. Something else happened that night too and that was obviously God's way of telling me things I didn't know at the time, but we will get into that later. The next day I found a message from the past night from a guy who was pretty cute.

This was his profile picture, and the very first picture I ever saw of him

He caught my attention pretty fast ;)

Then there was this picture...

I should have known what I was getting into...

The first thing I liked about him, was that he didn't use a typical "Hey gurl your pretty, message me" -- Yes this is how guys talked online. Super sad, super gross. Also, check your spelling homies. He asked what I liked to do on a first date, and he responded IF we were to go on a date, he'd like to take me to a zoo. PERFECT date for me, if you know me at all. I've never had a guy take me to the zoo either, which was stupid on their part. If you knew the level of how much I loved animals, then the zoo is a perfect place for me. Getting back on topic, we talked online for about a week, then we exchanged phone numbers and texted for about another week, then we decided to try Skype a few times. This is where I found out where his roommate went to bed at 8, so he had to be quite haha. He finally asked me on a date the day before Thanksgiving! I say finally, but in reality I was terrified of going on a date again, but he was already pretty special to me so I was anxious and wanted to meet him in person. He came over to my parents house. Yes, I didn't know him and I gave him my address. Good thing we're still alive, because he could have been a stalker/kidnapper/murderer. Kids, don't follow my footsteps. That whole night was such a fantastic night, and we both agreed that we both knew it was something special that night.

He took me to Red Robin because I had never been before, but looking back it was probably because it was his favorite restaurant :P. Then we went to see a cover band called The Spazmatics. It seems super simple, but seriously was one of the most amazing dates I had ever been on even though it wasn't a zoo yet :). So led to our journey to our marriage, and here are our happy selves now.

So in love with this man

Now for the title of my blog "From Oregon to Texas to Love -- Living the Army life. N is from Oregon and I'm from the best state ever...TEXAS! Now we live in Georgia for a few months...or so they say, there could be a chance we stay here. Yes you guessed it, N is in the Army. I love all branches of the service and have the utmost respect of them, but seriously they say one thing, then do the opposite, so we'll see where we go next. I'm really hoping no where super cold...and has some type of sun for the most part of the year. Born and raised in Texas has spoiled me, what can I say but that I love the sun and heat.

Till next time!
